This can even be boosted to three-times, four-times or even five-times the amount of linked reels. All of which can serve up a whopping 243 paylines to try and hit. This is the same amount of paylines as the Game of Thrones slot, but you won’t have to endure the endless amount of fantasy-based waffle to get your winnings.

The Twin Spin RTP of 96.68 sits squarely among the majority of other NetEnt slot games like Divine Fortune, although it’s just behind the Jimi Hendrix slot.

With this RTP, Twin Spin might not stand out from the crowd, but it’s worth noting that it’s a medium-high volatility slot game. If you’re patient this means that you could be in line to pick up some big winnings of up to 270,000 coins that make up for the relatively mediocre Twin Spin slot RTP.

The graphics are all well-defined and smoothly illustrated, and it looks decent and plays smoothly on a computer or mobile. So it’s no wonder that both established and new online casinos feature this slot game. 

We have to take the time to mention the Twin Spin Touch option here. This is just like Starburst Touch and Reel Rush Touch in that it offers you a great mobile version of the standard desktop game to enjoy on your smartphone or tablet. Although Twin Spin looks a bit like a tacky 1980s TV show, it at least should make many gamers nostalgic for the slot machines of yesteryear.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Twin Spin soundtrack. NetEnt says that this features ‘the smooth sounds of funk-jazz’, but to our ears, it sounds like the elevator music that takes you down to the bowels of hell. Thankfully the game’s sound effects are bland enough to remedy the crimes against music elsewhere in the Twin Spin slot.

Although NetEnt clearly couldn’t be bothered to give Twin Spin an original look, they did include some gameplay features to help it stand out from the pack. Above all, it’s the fact that Twin Spin can link together adjacent slots that make this a game anybody can quickly get interested in.

This starts out with the twin reels that are side by side that will link together. But as you spin the reels, you’ll see these reels sometimes expand to become triplets, quadruplets or even quintuplet reels. Well, it’s a symbol that has the word ‘Wild’ on it.  This will turn up on the second, third, fourth or fifth reels, and it can substitute all other symbols and boost your chances of winning big.

Everybody knows that free spins are a basic mechanic of all self-respecting video slot games. So it’s pretty bizarre to find that there are no Twin Spin free spins to be found anywhere in this game.

We tried pretty much every combination of spinning the reels, and couldn’t get anything approximating a free spin. It starts to make you wonder whether the Twin Spin RTP is alluring enough on its own to combat this.

While the ‘twin spin’ feature is pretty cool, it’s still fairly lame of NetEnt not to give us avid gamers anything in the way of extra slots spins, or multipliers, or even a nice bonus game.

In this post-modern era, some gamers might delight in the fact that NetEnt bothered to come up with another slot game that looks like it’s been dug out of your grandparent’s attic. As we have seen in this Twin Spin review, we’re not criticising its decent RTP, or medium-high volatility, and it must be said that this game plays very smoothly.

But when Twin Spin sacrifices anything approximating free spins or even a bonus game to give us a mildly diverting yet kind of confusing ‘twin spin’ feature, it might make some gamers long for something a bit more satisfying. Despite this, it’s a fair game and worth a go if you’re looking for the slot gaming equivalent to the Antiques Roadshow.
