Written By Kay Jones

Roaming Reels is produced by Ainsworth Gaming, an Australian based casino software provider which is influenced a lot by Microgaming. Ainsworth’s games are run on Microgaming’s Quickfire platform, including Roaming Reels. Due to the wide presence of Quickfire finding Roaming Reels is rather easy. It’s a simple video slot that’s highly volatile. Play sessions can go from memorable prizes to utter disaster in a blink of an eye. The symbols along with the background of the game seem to be based on the African continent and what can be seen there. The sunny savannahs have never been more alluring. Its symbols may have cutting edge details, but Roaming Reels lacks a lot in the audio department.

The game is available on all types of devices, including computers, tablets and smartphones.

Data

This African themed 5 reel video slot has 3 rows of symbols and a surprisingly high number of lines. Players are free to adjust the number of activated lines in the range of 1 to 100. That said, up to the point of 30 players can increase or decrease activated lines by 1. Beyond the 30 lines threshold players can increase or decrease activated lines by 5. Furthermore, Roaming Reels has 13 coin denominations with the minimum being 0.01 and the maximum 0.75. If we add up the numbers and do the math the minimum bet is 0.01 and the maximum is 75. The auto spin settings are located just above the spin button. It’s an odd location for an auto play option and because of this players tend to miss it. The maximum jackpot prize is 10 times the player’s bet.

Features

The Lion in Roaming Reels is the Wild symbol and it substitutes for any other symbol except the Scatter symbol. All wins are paid from the leftmost reel to the right. The Scatter symbol is represented with the Tree that “flourish” in Africa. Hitting 3, 4 or 5 of these grants the player 8, 12 or 20 free games respectively.

During base game the Lion can appear on reels 3, 4 and 5, whereas during free games the Lion can appear only on reel 1, 3 and 5. The rest of of the symbol set remains the same following the same rules in free games as in the base game. The golden African continent is the highest paying symbol from the secondary tier of symbols.

Conclusion

In essence Roaming Reels is the stepping stone for novice slot players into the world of complex video slots with a number of features. Nevertheless, the unique theme and the included wild and scatter symbols are good enough reasons to try out the game. If you happen to be an experienced slot player you won’t find it as amusing as you might expect. However, you can show it to a friend of yours who’s interested in slots, but never really gave them a chance.
