Set sail on the open sea with this band of pirates. Become the infamous “Captain Blackbeard” and be feared by many. We love pirate themed slots, we know what we can expect from them. However, Plucky Pirates caught us off-guard, we have to admit. You don’t have to look under the hood to find its unique features. It’s right in front of you, as soon as the game is fully loaded. Plucky Pirates is a mobile optimized slot, one of the first slots that targets the needs of the mobile players without any special amendments in the interface for desktop play. We liked playing Plucky Pirates on our smartphones, but the desktop experience was not as pleasant as we hoped it will be.
Players will find the bet panel odd. Even we were surprised by its layout. Needless to say, somehow we managed to find our way around without looking for help. You should adjust the bet setting and the game’s preference before you make your first spin.
Most of the slots that are released nowadays come with 15+ paylines. Plucky Pirates is a 9 payline slot which should make it a highly volatile slot, but that’s not the case. In fact, frequent wins are a thing. On top of this, if you’re in for the long ride, you can set the active payline count at 1. Note, this will reduce the hit rate considerably. Coins can have a value in the range of 0.01 to 9, and there can be only one coin per line. This can be considered as a major flaw. Plucky Pirates may be a mobile slot, but there are a lot of high rollers who like to play on their smartphones. Nektan obviously wanted to make a slot for casual players when they’re designing Plucky Pirates.
The top prize? Plucky Pirates can plunder a total of 2,500 coins in one single spin.
In all honesty, we did not enjoy playing Plucky Pirates on our computer. However, what we did enjoy the symbols that are designed with the attention to the closest details. Slot players enjoy sensational bonus features with glimmering video effects and dazzling audio that will follow the graphics. Unfortunately, Plucky Pirates does not emphasize on bonus games, graphics or any other elements that will make the game stand out from the rest in any way to say the least.
The “not so annoying parrot” is what you want to see more in this game. You can’t miss it, it has its beak half opened as it’s about to say “I’m Wild”. This symbol will substitute for any other symbol and it has the priority when it’s forming a winning line.
In our experience the most exciting moment was when we triggered some Free Spins, 10 to be precise. However, despite landing some decent combinations, the overall rewards amount was still nowhere near what we expected.
We must point out that the game is not showing some crucial information in the paytable.
Basically, it hasn’t got any special SLOTS features. If we can consider the special mobile friendly interface and the nonexistent desktop optimized interface as special features, they’re the only things we can point out. The latter being more of a flaw. Plucky Pirates has an RTP of 96.34% which is by 1.5% higher than the average.
We cannot compare Nektan’s Plucky Pirates with other mobile-friendly games as it lacks quality in many areas, such as bonus features, probably more impactful is the lack of video effects. Another thing we can add in this list of flaws is the poor audio quality. It sounds like an old radio.
In the end, mobile players will find comfort due the truly well mobile optimized interface.
