It’s been quite some time since RealTime Gaming has released a highly rewarding slot with both high hit rate and high rewards. RTG takes us to the Far East with Dragon Orb! The game boasts high definition graphics with unique, distinctive symbols, that, we must admit are truly captivating. Nevertheless, its qualities are not limited to graphics and audio as you will see in our Dragon Orb slot review.

There are a few counterintuitive aspects of the bonus features that caught us off guard. In spite of their nature, they act in the player’s favor. Before we dwell on details, we should mention that this is a progressive jackpot video slot!

Data

The Dragon Orb slot by RTG comes with 10 paylines, and you are allowed to adjust the number of active paylines in the range of 1 to 10. Despite the seemingly low number of paylines, Dragon Orb proved to have a decent hit rate, meaning wins are frequent. The entry, or minimum bet is set at 0.01 with one active payline, or 0.10 with all lines in play. Furthermore, because the coin can have a value in the range of 0.01 and 1.00, you can test the game with a modest bet of 0.10 per line. In case you want to raise the stakes, push the pedal to the metal, you can do so by playing with the maximum bet.

Note, you can trigger the progressive jackpots with any spin, regardless if it’s a winning or a losing one. You pay the price with lower than average theoretical RTP, 1.5% to be precise. It’s a small price to pay for getting a chance to win thousands of dollars.

Features

There are two modes in Dragon Orb regarding the speed with which the reels spin. If you want more pleasing graphics, click or tap on the Speed Button. On the other hand, if you want to see the reels spinning fast, just click or tap again on the said button.

The rules in Dragon Orb are straightforward and easy to digest. That being said, the Wild Symbol is represented by the object you see in the intro of Dragon Orb, which is the Dragon Orb itself and it can appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. Besides substituting for any other symbol to form a winning line, it also serves as a trigger mechanism for another rather rewarding and frequent bonus feature.

Besides the Wild Symbol, other high rewarding symbols are the Dragon Figure, the Temple with the pile of treasure, and the beautiful flower that tends to show up quite often. We must mention that Dragon Orb pays left to right, and right to left symbol combinations. Just when you thought you’re about to get a losing spin, the last three reels stop and form a winning line. This is extremely important due to the bonus feature we explain in the following paragraph.

Special Features

If it wasn’t for the Wild Re-Spin Feature, Dragon Orb would’ve been a plain, regular video slot with no rewarding mechanics. It triggers whenever a Wild symbol appears on the reels. When the Wild symbol appears, it’s expanded to cover the entire reel. You get your win with the expanded reel, and it gets locked. Click on the spin button again to spin the reels, free of charge. This is the counterintuitive part we mentioned earlier. Instead of having the reels spun automatically, players need to click on the spin button again. Furthermore, in case additional Wild symbols show up on the reels during the free Re-Spin, these reels are also locked in place, and an additional Re-Spin is awarded. This is the only bonus feature, yet it makes the games much more exciting than we anticipated. The possibilities are limitless.

Conclusion

We have a feeling once you start playing the game, you’ll be playing it for a long time, not because of the progressive jackpot, but because of the frequent wins. Then again, it could’ve been just us, but we’re highly doubtful about this. RTG seems to be taking a different turn, as far as the slot themes go. In the past few months, it has released 2 slots based on Far East elements. These can be found at many casinos in Canada and Australia.
