Big Thunder Slot is a medium volatility game with a 5x3 grid structure and a bet stake range of 0.01-100. The game offers an autoplay option in the form of auto games, which can be selected at rates of 10-100 auto games at a time. An interesting feature of this game is that it gives players the ability to adjust the number of pay lines they bet on in a range of 1-30. This means that players can increase or decrease the number of possible pay lines they will get paid out on, as opposed to more conventional slot games that only allow a fixed number of pay lines. While we really liked having this option, we kinda wish they went a step further to allow players to select the number of coins per line, or even the value of coins in the game. Another big plus, however, is the fact that Big Thunder Slot tracks your game history, allowing repeat players to keep track of their winnings as well as their losses. We think this is really great especially because it promotes playing responsibly which is something, we are strongly in favour of.

Big Thunder Slot has a return to player of 94.38%. This essentially means that the game will reward players with 94.38% of what is staked on it globally. While this may not seem like a terrible rate, it is a little lower than the industry standard which is around 96%. This is the one feature of slot games were bigger is undoubtedly always better. But even if it isn’t the most generous game, in this case, the gap wasn’t nearly big enough to discourage us from playing.

Big Thunder is a simple 2D slot with a crisp and clear interface but overall pretty standard visuals. While its far from the flashiest slot around, the jungle theme is rife in this game, and the sudden and abrupt sound effects keep in with this theme very well. Jungle drums, gorilla roars and cracking thunder will keep you on your toes as you delve deep into the jungle. Aztec masks, jungle drums, snakes and the big mighty gorilla that represents the games wild are among the mysterious symbols that may lead to your Amazonian treasure! 

We missed having arrow buttons to press when adjusting the bet value of our bets, as the scrolling function was a little sticky. But overall, we found the interface to be equally clear and responsive on desktop and mobile.

We can’t say that we were overly impressed with the overall design of the game, but it does have a certain character to it. Ainsworth kept it straightforward here and gave players with a flair for the rainforest a quality gaming experience that puts them right in the beating heart of the jungle.

This will also trigger the bonus reel feature, awarding 15 free spins, but more on that in the next section. Even though the wild gorilla doesn’t pay out it does substitute for all symbols except the scatter, multiplier and king strike, making winning combinations that much easier to come by!

Landing 3 or more scatters symbols will trigger the Big Thunder slot glorious Bonus Reel Feature and the sweet 15 free spins that come with it. While the feature is active, a bonus reel will appear offering 2 new bonus symbols, ‘x3’ and ‘x5’, as well as the scatter. The wild gorilla will substitute for all symbols except for ‘x3’ and ‘x5’. As we’re sure you guessed, landing either of these symbols anywhere on the bonus reel will see your winnings for that game either TRIPLED or MULTIPLIED BY 5! We think that’s pretty sweet.

Overall, we’d say that even though they may be hard to come by, they are pretty favourable Bonus rounds.

We can say we had a pretty decent time trying our luck in the jungle on Big Thunder. The game is solidly designed and offers a straightforward user-friendly experience. While the audio and visuals aren’t the most immersive, we’ve seen, we think this is a quality game from Ainsworth, and we like how its executed. The ability to select the number of pay lines is always nice to have. So is having the option to track game history. But what really puts the game ahead is its bonus features. From bonus reels and free spins to major king strike bonus rounds, this game really makes the player feel like anything is possible, despite its medium volatility.
