A Christmas Carol Review
Do whatever you want to, go wherever you want to go, be with whomever you want to be, but Christmas is when you should be at home with your family. The story of Scrooge, A Christmas Carol is a true classic. Are you ready to face your ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future? Scrooge is reckless, please don’t be like him.
This is one of Betsoft’s festive creations. From a design and game play perspectives, the game is amazing. We wish we could say that about the loading speed of the game. Make sure you don’t have any scheduled meetings, because the loading time for the bonus features takes a whole eternity.

Before you start playing the game, we recommend you to carefully take a look at the bet settings. If you haven’t played any Betsoft games recently, you might’ve forgotten that the minimum coin size is 0.02, it’s not 0.01 as in other video slots, whereas the maximum is 1.00. Raise the stakes by placing up to 5 coins per active line. The top prize by hitting 5 wild symbols is 96x the bet amount.
The game is highly volatile. While we were testing the game, we were so unfortunate that we got into several harsh losing sprees.
It really looks, sounds and feels festive. You can almost smell Christmas playing A Christmas Carol. We really like that Scrooge is visible throughout the whole game play. After all, he is the star of the game. The three symbols that represent the Ghosts of Christmas are the driving factors in this game. Triggering the bonus features activates special visual and audio effects that are admirable. Not to mention the fact that each of them perfectly fits the respective bonus feature.
However, in our opinion, the biggest, most distinctive element of A Christmas Carol is the superior graphics which have become Betsoft’s trademark. Certain players will find this as unnecessary, because the loading time is significantly longer than if you were to play a different 3D slot.
The roasted chick is the wild and it substitutes for any other symbol except the Ghosts of Christmas which take the role of scatter symbols. If this wasn’t a story about greedy Scrooge, most likely there would’ve been Christmas trees, stockings with presents and other festive elements.
Hitting any 3 identical Ghosts of Christmas triggers one of the special features. Christmas Past and Christmas Future grant the player 3, 6 and 12 Free Spins for hitting 3, 4 and 5 scatters respectively. Future Spins and Past Spins grant a guaranteed payline win or an additional feature gets triggered. On the other hand, Christmas Present when triggered replaces all Ghost of Present symbols with Wild Symbols. It’s good that Betsoft found a way to implement the background of each of the Ghosts of Christmas accordingly.
We tested the Double Down or Gamble feature. However, we do not recommend using it. Yes, the prizes are stunning, but it’s better to keep play another spin than lose it all without enjoying the company of the Ghosts of Christmas and good old Scrooge.
In all honesty, the game is too volatile for our taste. The hit rate is low, however, the bonus feature do get triggered quite often. Entering a losing spree kills the fun and the satisfaction. Regardless, even if you do win a big prize, by that time you will be bored by the repetitive losing outcomes.
