Online Blackjack Essentials – What You Need to Know

It’s a staple game amongst online casino players. Even land-based online casinos cannot function properly without blackjack tables. The one thing you should know, the number 21 will become your favorite number. You want the sum of the cards, meaning their face value to be as close as possible to 21. If you manage to get a 21, “Blackjack”! You’re the winner. However, if the sum is above 21, you lose, or the dealer wins. If the dealer gets 21, you also lose. If the sum of your card values is bigger than the dealer’s, you win.

It sounds straightforward, right? Well, it is. As a beginner, you probably don’t know, yet you should, the player’s options, and how you communicate with the dealer during the course of the game. These are yours, or the player decisions:

  • Hit – take another card from the dealer.
  • Stand – also known as “stay or stand pat”. Take no more cards
  • Double Down – Double the bet, but you commit to STAND after you get one card.
  • Split – Splitting is possible when certain conditions are met, and it’s considered an advance move, from the perspective of players who are new to blackjack. You need to have two identical cards. The two cards are treated as separate hands. Play the round as usual, but with one extra hand. Here's an interesting view if you should always split 10s, for instance.
  • Surrender – Surrender is possible in some blackjack games only. Usually, the rules clearly state if the player can surrender a hand, and get half of the bet value back.

Depending on the blackjack game, there could also be Insurance. It’s a side bet, which is treated independently. If the dealer has a Blackjack, or 21, the player wins. Insurance pays 2:1.

These are the basics. With these game rules, you can start playing blackjack. However, Blackjack is not like Roulette, and it does require skill and experience. You can increase your odds of winning by a huge margin if you play your hands properly.

We go into greater detail in our Blackjack Guide. Make sure you check it out if you want to be prepared to tackle tricky situations. Blackjack is very entertaining, and it can be rather rewarding. Unlike Baccarat and Roulette, or even Poker, Blackjack can be very exciting with a little bit of understanding of the game.

Live Dealer Blackjack – The Blackjack Experience You Want

The bonuses listed on this page allow you to enjoy virtual blackjack games, and not all of them. Live Blackjack games are off limits. If you’re looking for Live Dealer Blackjack bonuses, we have that too. We recommend playing in Live Casinos only. Yes, you must play with real money, but you will also get real rewards, without having to deal with exhausting wagering requirements.

Live casino game providers are continuously improving the user-interface, and the variety of live casino games, including Live Blackjack games. There are tables for VIP players, where you can break the bank, and access tables with more liberal table limits.

Warning: Card Counting is Not Entirely Possible

Now, although we’re not in favor of this, we have to inform you. Card counting in Blackjack is big. We’ve seen it in movies, we’ve seen books and guides written about it, we’ve heard of testimonials how some player managed to beat the house with counting cards. This may be true if you go into a land-based casino, and somehow you manage to stay under the radar.

Playing blackjack online with the purpose to count cards is not quite possible. Why? Because there are certain rules that rule out any card counting techniques. In order to profit from card counting, you need to know when to raise your bet. For starters, you can’t really do that, or you can but not to an extent that will earn you profits.

Additionally, dealers make sure that the decks are always kept fresh. The deck penetration doesn’t allow for accurate card counting. This is why we strongly recommend to keep it fun, entertaining, and you should be the “person behind the wheel”, not some strange strategy.

Also, virtual blackjack games have nothing to do with card counting. As a matter of fact, every single outcome is independent. It’s not even remotely related to the previous or the following round. This goes against all card counting tips and advices.

Get Your Welcome Bonus and Play Blackjack Online!

The best part about playing casino games online, including blackjack, is that you can play with bonus funds. Bonuses are great for casual players, players who like to play longer, learn the game inside out, yet still have the potential to win and withdraw real money. It’s highly recommended that you start your online blackjack journey with a welcome bonus, and keep an eye on any reload bonuses that might come in handy down the road.

Blackjack is not an operator favorite, meaning it does not always contribute towards the completion of wagering requirements. However, there’s a good range of well-established online casinos that treat all players equally, giving blackjack players the opportunity to enjoy their favorite game and still, clear the associated wagering requirements.
